Below are some of the events I’m involved with during summer 2022

Streetlife Family Fossil Hunt – York city centre – Saturday June 25th 2022
1pm-3pm: Join me for a short stroll from York Museum Gardens to Coney Street as we hunt for fossils in the pebbles, cobbles, and building stones, and try to crack the code of York’s Fossil Timeline, as part of the StreetLife York project.

Fossiliam’s Rock & Fossil Roadshow – Sunday June 26th 2022
1pm-4pm, West Bank Park Summer Fair, York: Bring your fossils for identification; test your own ID skills in the Museum of Liam; and learn about the ancient prehistory of York and Yorkshire. Further details here: no booking required.

York Family Fossil Hunt – York city centre – Sunday July 3rd 2022
2pm-3.30pm: Ammonites in the pebbles, corals in the cobbles, and oysters in the high street? Can you really find fossils on the historic streets of York? Join me for a York Fossil Hunt and I’ll show you, yes, you can! Book your tickets here.

Fossil Hunt – Cayton Bay – Monday 4th July 2022
1pm-3pm: Cayton Bay is a cracking beach, full-stop. It’s also a cracking beach for finding fossils, and you don’t even need to do any cracking. Corals, sea lilies, Jurassic oysters and fossil wood – to name a few – are there for you to pick up as pebbles. Book your tickets here.

Fossil Hunt – Filey Bay – Wednesday 6th July 2022
2pm-4pm: Come to fabulous Filey and find fantastic fossils! Ammonites, belemnites, corals, devil’s toenails: all manner of lovely specimens are served up as pebbles on the beach, both from the Jurassic rocks of Filey Brigg, and the Ice Age clays that sit on top of them. Book your tickets here.

Dalbyology – Dalby Forest – Sunday July 10th 2022
10.30am to 4pm: Come to the Dalby Forest Visitor Centre for Dalbyology, as Forestry England and friends help visitors the science of the natural world. I’ll be part of the Rotunda Geology Group team explaining the importance of minerals to modern communication, and the challenges of identifying fossils!
