Fossils of Front Street
Fossil-finding on the Yorkshire Coast is marvellous, but sometimes the tide times or heights are no good, and sometimes you simply can’t get to the coast. It’s great to know, therefore, that fossils can also pop up in other places.
Today, I was in Acomb, in the western suburbs of York, where fossils can be found in some of the roadside cobbles on Front Street. These include crinoids, corals, and the only examples of ammonite cobbles I’ve found in York. I’m sure there are other palaeontological treasures to be found, but for now, please find below a pdf guide to Front Street Fossils
